Verizon is revamping its unlimited data wireless plans to eliminate complex bundles and move away from a “one size fits all” approach, aiming to streamline the customer experience. However, this change means that customers who previously enjoyed complimentary services like streaming video and music will now have to pay for them.
On May 16, 2023, Verizon unveiled its new unlimited data plans, branded as “myPlan,” which it calls “myPlan”. The company promises “It’s simple. Really. Super simple.”
“Verizon is putting an end to bloated bundles and a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to wireless plans,” a Verizon spokesperson said in a press release. “Now, customers can pay for only what they need. You’re in charge. You decide what goes into your plan and what stays out. You choose how it changes—you’re never locked in. Everyone gets to customize their own plan, so each person, or family member, gets what they want—and everyone can save.”
Verizon has stated that the objective behind the change is to simplify its unlimited data plans, providing customers with greater clarity regarding pricing and perks. However, the updated plans do remove certain complimentary offerings, such as access to Disney Plus and Apple Music, and instead require customers to pay for accessing these services that were previously included in their older plans.

Verizon Unlimited Plus and Welcome Unlimited plans let you add a $10/month Apple Music family subscription perk to your plan. A $16.95/month value, this subscription lets up to 6 people enjoy all the features and full catalog of Apple Music.
Or you can choose Apple One individual subscription for $10/month(originally costs $16.95/month) or Apple One family subscription for $20/month(originally costs $22.95/month).
These two perks can’t be added on the same line. Apple Music is included with Apple One, which also gets Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and 200 GB of iCloud+. You can get Apple One – Family Subscription for $20/month and share it with up to five other people or stick with Apple One – Individual Subscription.
Verizon’s new myPlan comes in two tiers: Unlimited Welcome offers access to its 4G LTE and 5G networks, and Unlimited Plus unlocks fastest 5G network experience, up to 10x faster than 4G LTE.
From there, customers choose which wireless perks they want to add — from discounted access to Disney Plus, Apple Music Family, Apple One and Walmart Plus, to features like mobile hotspot data and 2 terabytes of cloud storage. Each perk is $10 more per month.
Verizon, however, has become the first to depart from offering free perks altogether and now charges customers for the option of adding them to their plans, albeit at a discounted rate. While the company argues that this shift is aimed at providing customers with greater control over the features they desire, the underlying motive is to generate additional revenue from subscribers who already pay for one of the most expensive wireless phone services in the nation.
You can choose this perk when you select Unlimited Plus and/or Unlimited Welcome. Or when you have Unlimited Plus and/or Unlimited Welcome, you can add the perk later anytime in My Verizon.

Please note that these plans are no longer available for new additions to your account. However, if you already have these plans, you currently have until 11/17/23 to enroll.
