What is Spotify DJ?

Spotify DJ is an innovative curated music service, driven by AI and tailored to your listening preferences. It utilizes a DJ-like voice, mimicking the style of a radio station, to enhance the music discovery experience.

Using your music tastes as a foundation, the DJ lines up a series of tracks, carefully selected to align with your preferences. It then provides insightful commentary about the tracks and artists, offering suggestions for what it believes you’d enjoy hearing next.

This AI-powered feature complements Spotify’s Discover Weekly and the annual Wrapped playlist, all working together to help users explore personalized music perfectly suited to their tastes. The best part is that Spotify DJ can be accessed directly from within the Spotify app itself, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable music discovery journey.

How to use Spotify DJ?

Spotify AI DJ is only available to Spotify Premium users on desktop, mobile and tablet devices. Spotify Premium costs $11.99/month for Individual, $16.99/month for Duo, $19.99/month for Family and $5.99/month for Student plan. There are also some ways to get Spotify premium for free.

Before proceeding with the steps, it’s important to ensure that you have the latest version of Spotify installed on your tablet or mobile device. If you don’t have the latest version, the feature may not be visible or accessible.

On Mobile, tablet and mobile

  1. Open Spotify app. Tap Home .
  2. Select the Music tag at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap DJ, and tap the Play button on the DJ card to start listening. You can also add the feature to Your Library by tapping on the Plus sign to the left of the box.
  • To change the music, tap the DJ button in the Now Playing bar at the bottom of the app.
  • Your DJ playlist will be added to Your Library and to your Recently played playlists.

How Spotify AI DJ works?

The DJ is an AI guide tailored specifically to your music preferences. Its deep understanding of your tastes enables it to curate a playlist that resonates with you. By exploring the latest releases and delving into your beloved classics, it can even unearth those long-forgotten gems you haven’t heard in years. After analyzing your musical preferences, the DJ presents a stream of songs meticulously selected for your enjoyment. What’s remarkable is that it continually updates the lineup based on your feedback, ensuring a constantly evolving and personalized experience.

If the current vibe isn’t quite hitting the mark, simply tap the DJ button, and it will switch things up. The more you engage with the DJ, sharing your likes and dislikes, the more refined its recommendations become. Think of it as Spotify’s top-notch personalization at its finest, now embodied in an AI DJ that fits snugly in your pocket.

Who is Spotify’s AI DJ voice?

Furthermore, the AI’s voice is inspired by Spotify’s Head of Cultural Partnerships, Xavier “X” Jernigan, who previously hosted the popular personalized show, The Get Up, on Spotify. This means that listeners may find the AI’s voice to be familiar and comforting. Surprisingly, the voice sounds incredibly realistic and not at all robotic. During Spotify’s live event, Jernigan spoke alongside his AI double and the differences were difficult to spot. “I can listen to my voice all day,” he joked. As Spotify continues to refine and enhance the system, the AI’s performance will progressively improve, providing an even more immersive and satisfying experience for users.

Is Spotify DJ on desktop?

Spotify AI DJ is not available on desktop app when it rolled out in FEBRUARY 2023. However, it gradually appears on desktop apps since May, 2023, but you’ll likely need to update or reinstall the application to see the feature in action.

Is there any Spotify mod app with AI DJ?

AI DJ is server sided so it is not availeble on any Spotify mod app.

How to fix Spotify AI DJ not showing up?

Spotify AI DJ is available for Spotify Premium users in the U.S., Canada, UK and Ireland. Spotify DJ is rolling out in 46 more markets around the world on August 8, 2023. A gradual roll out ensures there’re no technical issues compared to a sudden activation for everyone. This is likely the reason why some of you still don’t have it. No worries, every day more users are receiving the DJ, so if you’re on Premium and are in the U.S., Canada, UK and Ireland, you should get it soon too.

Spotify DJ not appearing? There are a few potential reasons for this, such as your device type, outdated Spotify version, and regional availability based on your subscription account.

To find Spotify DJ, look in the Music feed on the Home screen. If it’s not visible, here are some steps you can take with the help of Spotify support:

  1. Ensure your Spotify app is up to date. If you’re on a mobile or tablet, search for the app in your app store to update it. For desktop users, check for updates beneath the profile picture.
  2. Confirm that you have a Spotify Premium subscription, as the AI DJ feature is exclusively available to Premium subscribers.
  3. The AI DJ feature may not be available in your country yet. Currently, it’s fully rolled out in the U.S, Canada, UK, and Ireland only.
  4. Verify that the AI DJ feature is enabled on your account. Access your account settings, go to the “Playback” section, and make sure to toggle on the “AI DJ” option.
  5. Try logging out of your Spotify account and logging back in to refresh your account settings and grant access to any new features.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with Spotify DJ not showing up.

How to turn off the AI DJ?

Not everyone like the AI DJ feature, however, Spotify doesn’t offer an option to disable it. Surprisingly, some users have found that if you use Spotify web or desktop version, you can add a folder, move the ai dj into it, then once its in the folder, delete the folder and it’ll be gone.

There is also another option: go to home tab, scroll down to recently played, hold down on dj and it’ll bring up the option to remove from library.

For Android mobile app, long press the DJ icon in your playlist, then unlike it.

How to turn off the DJ voice and keep the music?

There is not a option for that but a workaround. If you like the music mix but don’t wanna hear the voice, just skip ahead through like the next 10 songs and then rewind back and the dj voice won’t play again for a bit.
